About The Artist

We are Bai Minority family indigo tie dye workshop located in Dali and Singapore. I grew up in the ancient town of Dali, in southwest of China, a Bai ethnic group area, where beautiful indigo fabrics hung along stone roadsides. Inspired by this traditional tie dye crafts, Blue Bee Tie Dye was founded in 2022 in Singapore.

The traditional fabric resists dyeing technique with thousands-year history is called ‘Shibori’ in Japan, and named ‘绞缬’ in China. The needles are threaded on the fabric with painted guidelines, and the thread is finally tightened to achieve the patterns.
